Types of Ration Cards in Bihar

- BPL Ration Card
BPL ration card is a red-coloured ration card dedicated to people under Below Poverty Line. This BPL Ration Card is issued to those families whose income is less than Rs. 24000 per annum. These types of families live below the poverty line.
- APL Ration Card
This ration card is a blue coloured ration card distributed to the people Above Poverty Line. This means this card is issued to families who live above the poverty line. The government has not declared any income limit for this ration card. Therefore, any resident of Bihar can apply for this ration card.
- AAY Ration Card
AAY Ration Cards are given to some of the poorest families in the state. These Ration Cards are for the families who don’t have any source of income are most likely to get the ration card. The AAY ration cardholders get the most facilities out of all other ration cardholders.

Let us see the online procedure to search the Ration Card Holder Name on the epds.gov.in portal.
- Visit the Official Portal of EPDS Portal.
- It takes the online users to the Home Page below.
- Click on the RCMS Report.
- It then takes the online users to the following page below.
- Select the District and click on the show button.
- It then shows the below list of the Ration Cards, as shown below.
- The applicants can click on the Rural or Urban options displayed in the blue colour.
- Here, we have clicked on the Rural link.
- Select and Click on the respective block, as shown below.
- Now, select and click on the Panchayat.
- Click on the Village from the list of options.
- It then displays the list of the Ration Card Holders with details such as Ration Card, Card Type, Ration Card Holder Name, Father Name, Number of Family Members, and FPS Dealer.

- Now click on the Ration Card Number of the concerned Ration Card Holders.
- It then displays the Ration Card Number, Ration Card Type, Ration Card Holder Name, Address, and Mobile Number.
- It also displays the Mobile Number and Family Photo of the Ration Card Holders.
- The applicants can click on the Print Page to download and print the Bihar Ration Card PDF copy with photos of the family members.
